Buying your first vintage Birkin can be intimidating. But it doesn't have to be. Here's what you need to know.
Handle condition and curvature
The back handle is always a tiny bit longer than the front. The Birkin’s handle also has a tighter curvature vs. the Kelly’s.

Look out for pontet cracking
Where the sangle meets the pontent will usually have a lot of rubbing, check to make sure there’s no cracking there.

Cracking in the folds
Lots of movement in this area which will also result in cracking so always stretch these folds out to make sure they are in great condition.

Handle attachment
Make sure the handles are sturdy here at the base attachment.

Hardware oxidation
Always check the plaque to make sure that there is no oxidation on the screws and that the logos are printed clearly

Conclusion
Birkins are made from high quality materials are built to last. You don't have much to worry about so long as you perform your due diligence with these points.
Happy collecting!
