Returns, Recoloring & Authenticity

Returns

Save for two instances mentioned below, My Grandfather’s Things Limited and its subsidiaries, together known as “MGFT”, does not accept any returns on handbags.

Handbag Description

Videos and photos utilised on any social media platform or website will form part of the description of a handbag. The customer acknowledges and accepts that there will be limitations in technology as to presenting the color, texture, wear and tear of any vintage handbag. Screen resolution may vary per electronic device and so there may be slight tonal variation in color of any handbag shown on a device and actual color of the handbag. Certain vintage handbags will have marks of wear and tear that may not necessarily be captured by the filming process due to its insignificant nature. These instances include but are not limited to: spots of mould in cavities of handbags or deep recesses of pockets, tiny rips and tears in pocket lining or deep cavities of the handbag, minor pilling of internal lining, minor frays on edges of the interwoven chain and leather, micro tears, micro scratches or nicks, scuffing not captured by the video, serial stickers partially coming off, minor scratches on serials not rendering the serial partly or entirely illegible.

Authenticity

MGFT’s position is that any handbag sold by it on its website and/or social media platform is authentic (save for its policies on Recoloring (as defined below) and any modifications to a handbag that are not discoverable by plain sight (without unscrewing, unstitching or dismantling a component of any handbag), touch or smell (“Authenticity”). Any de minimis or minor alterations, exchanged or repaired components made to the handbag which do not substantially alter its intended and original appearance will not affect or alter MGFT’s assessment of the authenticity of a handbag (e.g. screws, metal back plating of CC clasp, zipper pull (including the ornamental gold CC pull tab), certain chain links being replaced or internal lining being replaced.

Recoloring

MGFT has adopted the following policy relating to any repainting, touching up, re-colored and other related terms which are used to describe the condition of a leather product that has been altered in color by certain color pigment (“Recolored”). For the avoidance of doubt, the term “Recolored” shall NOT include any specific coloring added to corners, edges, piping or the lining of any handbag.

Unless otherwise specifically described or stated in its listing story or a product page, MGFT maintains its position that handbags sold by MGFT have LIKELY not been substantially Recolored. Substantially Recolored refers to any obvious signs which may be discoverable by plain sight (without unscrewing, unstitching or dismantling a component of any handbag), touch or smell. Substantially Recolored does not include any minor signs of Recoloring which are not detectable to the naked eye and/or are in practice of de minimis effect to the leather condition of the handbag in question.

MGFT does not make any representations as to any bag that being in completely original condition as it is unable to trace and verify the chain of ownership of any vintage handbag.
