Why structure matters in a vintage vs. modern Chanel bag

Here are two classic flaps. Can you tell which one is new and which one is vintage? 

If you guessed that the bag on the left is modern and the right is vintage, you would be correct. If you couldn't tell them apart, don't worry. That's what this post is for. 

Let's talk about structure 

In modern Chanel design, the silhouette turns outward very, very slightly:

Now in the vintage version, its silhouette is much more rectangular:

 

Structure commands a premium

As I always say, you should be buying structure, not corners, but structure. You should be paying a premium for good structure in a bag.

Everything else is honestly not as important.
