Why should we buy from you?
Being a (mostly online) boutique shop with popups in major cities, we provide the best of both worlds. Large retailers charge huge markups. Smaller retailers have lower prices but you don't know if it is a safe transaction. Resale platforms? There's a whole host of problems using those such as authenticity, privacy safety etc...
MGFT occupies a special space in the vintage world. We have been dealing with exclusively and specifically vintage handbags and accessories since 2017 (much earlier than the Tiktok craze) and we continue to maintain the highest standard of authenticity as well quality without a hefty price tag.

Where are your bags from?
We buy from a network of resellers globally. Since our incorporation of our Japan trade office, we've started focusing on buying only from our Japan trade partners. These are longstanding relationships we've built with other businesses who are also vintage dealers.
The buying is a proactive process of procurement which is labor and time intensive. Experience with buying vintage styles is really what sets us apart from others because unlike simply buying "secondhand", vintage items are usually much much older and will exhibit different more extensive signs of wear and tear. You will notice that our quality is supreme to others and we take time to showcase each bag's unique flaws and strengths.
Purchase Directions
At present we are unable to allow direct purchase on our website with your credit card. Please email us general@mygrandfathersthings.com for us to send you an invoice directly with bank transfer instructions.
Alternatively, you can join one of our live sales to purchase through instagram.
Shipping
We know you want to get your bag as soon as possible, so we items over USD 1000 with Fedex, tracked with a signature on delivery required. It will take 2-4 business days to arrive at your address. Unfortunately we don't ship on Sundays and Hong Kong public holidays.
Items will either ship from Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo or NYC depending on the item's location at the time.
No item we have ever shipped has ever gotten lost but obviously we cannot guarantee since this process is out of our control. You will receive the tracking number when we have shipped the item so you can track it on the go.
Refunds
We spend a lot of time curating and stocking each item to our store. Therefore, we strongly encourage equally thoughtful consideration before purchase. We only accept refunds in unique pre-agreed circumstances (see returns, authenticity and recoloring). To return your product, you should contact us first to arrange for returns. You may only refund within 15 days of purchase.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. The item must have the handle tag intact for a full refund. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Items lost during refund
The customer will bear the risk of lost items during shipment. Should the item get lost during shipment, you will not receive a refund. We therefore advise that if you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item otherwise.
Authenticity
All our items are authentic. We are registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and we maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics. See page on returns, authencity and recoloring.
Items lost during refund
In the unfortunate circumstance that you choose to initiate a chargeback without following our return procedure as stated, you would be required to return the item to us immediately. If you choose to initiate a chargeback and keep the item we will pursue our legal options to the fullest extent to reclaim our item back.
Do you sell pre-loved bags?
Yes and no. We sell vintage bags (15 years or older) so they are often times pre-loved. However, sometimes we come across items that have never been used but are still at least 15 years old. Generally we are very doubtful when a bag is over 15 years old and is apparently "new" - logically that does not make sense does it?
